THE Changwon LG Sakers are in town for a series of tune-up games in preparation for the 2022-2023 season of the Korean Basketball League (KBL).
The Sakers went up against UAAP squad Ateneo on Monday after previously playing against PBA teams NLEX, Rain or Shine and Barangay Ginebra.
The Korean club happens to be one of the KBL teams that employed Filipino players for the coming season after signing up former College of Saint Benilde star Justin Gutang.

LG Electronics Philippines managing director Sungjae Kim, LG Philippines product director Changsoo Jang, and Sakers head coach Sang Hyun Cho and Gutang on Monday received LG Puricare Wearable Air Purifiers for the use of the team prior to the tune-up game at the Kerry Sports Manila.
This is not the first time the Sakers have been in the country to play pre-season games, having played a couple of exhibition matches against Barangay Ginebra in the past.
Aside from Gutang, former PBA Asian import Lee Gwan Hee will also suit up for the Sakers this season. The Korean player suited up for Phoenix as its Asian import during the 2015 Governors Cup.
Gutang said playing against Philippine teams will definitely be a boost for the team that finished seventh during the 2020-2021 season.

“Playing against PBA teams and top collegiate teams will definitely help us in terms of playing together as a team. I feel that we are building our chemistry on the court to help us prepare for the KBL,” said Gutang.
