KAI Sotto emerged as the top high school player in the NBTC-Chooks To Go Power Rankings, heading 24 players named to play in the All-Star Game on March 23 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Ateneo big man got the nod of a selection committee composed of coaches and mediamen that determined the final composition of the All-Star teams.
The 15-year-old won Finals MVP honors during the Blue Eaglets' run to the UAAP championship, averaging 17 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 6.3 blocks in the three-game title series.
Joel Cagulangan of La Salle Greenhills emerged in second spot after capturing the Finals MVP in the NCAA last year for leading the Greenies to their first-ever NCAA title in Season 93.
The 24 players will be divided into two teams through a draft to be held on Thursday with this season’s champion coaches Joe Silva of Ateneo and Marvin Bienvenida of LSGH picking.
Former KIA and current Valenzuela coach Chris Gavina and Lyceum coach Topex Robinson will be the head coaches in the All-Star Game.
SJ Belangel of Ateneo was third on the list followed by NCAA MVP Will Gozum of Mapua and UAAP MVP CJ Cansino of University of Santo Tomas to round out the Top Five.
Dave Ildefonso of Ateneo tooksixth spot followed by L-Jay Gonzales of Far Eastern University at seventh. John Galinato of Chiang Kai Shek College made it to No. 8, while Rhayyan Amsali of National University and Aaron Fermin of Arellano rounded out the Top 10.
