JUNE Mar Fajardo erased doubts on his availability as the San Miguel Beer slotman returned to Gilas Pilipinas practice on Monday morning at Meralco gym.
Sidelined since Thursday due to a swollen right knee, the national team cornerstone rejoined his teammates, although in a limited capacity as he continues to recover from a swollen knee.
“Hindi ako sumali sa mga slides (drill), pero the rest (ng ginawa) sumali,” Fajardo told SPIN.ph over the phone on Monday night while he was at a therapy center to treat his knee.
The national team turned its privacy up a notch on Monday when coach Tab Baldwin held practice in the morning away from every pair of prying eyes after officials announced training was supposedly slated for the evening.
With hardly anyone watching, Gilas focused on the unglamorous side of the court for the first time after tackling offense since training camp resumed two weeks ago.
“Defense kami kanina eh,” Fajardo said.
Gilas goes on a break on Tuesday when the team will head to the embassy to get their visas for the Greek trip next month. They get back to work on Wednesday either morning or night depending on the progress of the visa application process of each member.
