JUAN Gomez de Liano said several teams from overseas leagues have inquired about his availability, and he might consider if an offer is made.
The 20-year-old guard from University of the Philippines told The Prospects Pod there has been no formal offer.
"There are a few actually, but nothing official. So I won't say na actual offer siya," he said, declining to provide further details.
Gomez de Liano is set to sit out UAAP Season 83 to focus on developing his game through the Gilas Pilipinas program, where he and his brother Javi are part of the pool.
He was playing for Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down sports. He was also set to suit up for Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards in the next Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season.
There are several amateur players who recently made the move to play abroad.
Kai Sotto, the 7-foot-2 former Ateneo Blue Eaglet, is set to play for the NBA G League select team.
Ateneo's Thirdy Ravena signed with San-En NeoPhoenix last month, playing in the Japanese B.League through its Asian Player Quota initiative.
Filipino New Zealanders are also playing in the New Zealand National Basketball League, with Far Eastern University's Ken Tuffin and Joseph Nunag with the Taranaki Mountainairs, while University of the East's Richie Rodger is with the Otago Nuggets.
Even in the women's game, Jack Animam has recently been hired as a reinforcement for Shih Hsin University in Taiwan for its University Basketball Association (UBA).
Gomez de Liano is not ruling out playing abroad.
"Personally sa akin, it's a goal of mine to play overseas, especially for me that I have a Spanish passport. It's much easier to play for different clubs, but I'm just taking it a day at a time," the 6-foot-2 court general said.
"Pagtanda ko, ayoko isipin na I should've done this, I should've done that. I just don't want that to happen. I just want to make the most of the opportunity that I have especially while I'm still young."
