A young Filipino baller showcased his handles and reflexes at the comfort of his home – and won an international competition in the process.
Bien Quirimit edged US Mid-Atlantic region representative Frankie in a virtual challenge to rule the 2020 Jr. NBA Global Championship boys division recently.
Representing the Asia-Pacific region, Quirimit flashed his dribbling and reaction speed to finish a HomeCourt app challenge with 844 points, winning by 63 over his opponent.
This year's Jr. NBA Global Championship was supposed to be held in Florida last month, but was reduced to a virtual event due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Participants had to take part in online challenges instead, using HomeCourt, a training app that lets you improve your dribbling and reflexes, among other skills.
Quirimit is a pride of Bacoor, Cavite and one of nine De la Salle Zobel standouts who were part of the Asia-Pacific team.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate our Asia Pacific team for winning the 2020 Virtual Junior NBA Global Championship,” coach Michael Casimiro said, mentioning Adriel, John, Aaron, Jude, Iggy, Gian, and Maco as the other participants aside from Bien.
“I’m proud to say that our players consistently topped the weekly leaderboards in the Asia Pacific Team. Our team uses the Homecourt App in our daily varsity online training. I already invited the team members to join the next tournament which is the Gatorade Jr. NBA Global Skills Challenge."
