THE Jr. NBA Philippines 2013 begins its Regional Selection Camp in Dagupan on Saturday at the CSI Stadia in Lucao, Dagupan City.
Players aged 10 to 14 will get the chance to participate in a camp that uses NBA style skills tests and basketball drills.
The two-day selection camp starts at 9 a.m.
The first day of the camp presented by Alaska is devoted to skills tests and drills and the selection of the Top 40 performers. The second day will consist of more drills and scrimmages among the Top 40. Up to 10 players will then be selected at the end of the second day to represent the region in the National Training Camp in April. The Regional Selection Camp in Dagupan will be led by guest Jr. NBA Coach Greg Stolt, Senior Director of Basketball Operations, NBA China and local Jr. NBA coaches led by PBA Legend Jojo Lastimosa.
The top campers selected in Dagupan will join the other top campers selected from the Regional Selection Camps set April 1 and 2 in Davao City, April 6 and 7 in Lucena City and April 13 and 14 in Manila.
Ten more National Campers will be picked from the Alaska Power Camp to make up the 50 participants in the National Training Camp which will be held in Manila from April 26 to 28.
The highlight of Jr. NBA Philippines 2013 presented by Alaska is the selection of this year’s 10 Jr. NBA Philippines 2013 All Stars who will be rewarded with an NBA experience later in the year and a chance to play against a counterpart youth team abroad.
The Coach of the Year award winner will be announced at the National Training Camp, which will also be attended by an NBA legend and feature NBA Cares community outreach.
