PASIG Grindhouse and 1Bataan are slowly building a rivalry.
After and splitting the titles in the first two legs of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President's Cup, it sure seems like it.
Even Kings' Joshua Munzon couldn't help but notice the brewing bad blood between the two top teams which reigned in the first two offings of the first-of-its-kind 3x3 league in the country.
"It's becoming maybe a little rivalry," he observed after his side took the second leg title with a 21-18 victory over the Risers on Sunday.
But the Fil-Am swingman didn't deny that it felt good for Pasig Grindhouse to even things with 1Bataan after last week's joust.
"After losing last week in the championship game, it was a good comeback for us," said Munzon, who drained the title-clinching triple from the right corner with 1:25 to spare. He finished with eight points in the finals.
"We watched a lot of film and we discussed matchups, and they sure are a tough team. They're young and they're hungry."
As much as Pasig Grindhouse and 1Bataan have established themselves as the clear-cut contenders, Munzon knows that no team is a pushover in the 3x3 league and the Kings should always play at their best every time they take the halfcourt.
"There's a lot of good teams. It's tough to just point out one good team when anybody can take it in a week," he said. "So for us, we'll just have to keep working, stay hungry, not get satisfied, and continue to make that push. We wanna win it all, so we'll keep grinding it out."
