THE Batang Gilas look to score their second win in as many games as they take on Thailand on Friday in the Seaba Under-16 Championship at the Xavier University gym in Cagayan de Oro City.
The Filipinos came up with a huge victory in their opening game and now try to move to the top spot of the five-nation meet.
Also seeing action are Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.
Joseph Tibayan came up with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while skipper Samjosef Belangel also managed to post a double-double with 10 and 10 for the Philippines.
“Malayong-malayo pa talaga kami,” added Belangel, who was best remembered for scoring 99 points in a game in Iloilo and 85 in one of the games in Bacolod.
“But in terms of developing our chemistry, we’ve able to do a good job as we shared the ball more and got everyone involved.”
The Filipinos will be facing a Thailand team that is also coming off a 118-25 thrashing of listless Brunei squad in the tournament presented by MVP Sports Foundation, SMART Communications, Maynilad, Rio Verde Water Cagayan de Oro City, and Rough Rider Jeans Clothing in partnership with the Department of Tourism Promotions Board headed by COO Domingo Ramon Enerio III.
