JONAS Tibayan sat out National University’s debut in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Friday as he is still recovering from a hand injury.

NU coach Jamike Jarin explained Tibayan sustained a fracture in his finger during a high school all-star game a few months back.

Jarin said he already wanted the former Chiang Kai Shek College standout to play in the Bulldogs' next game but has yet to get  clearance from doctors.

“From one of the all-star games, may konting fracture, I think,” said Jarin. “I want him to play next game but the doctors advised two more weeks (of rest).”

Jarin said Tibayan could be ready play on the Bulldogs' third game in the preseason tournament on May 14 against Mapua.

The 17-year-old Tibayan has committed to join the Bulldogs, and has even joined the team’s trip to Las Vegas for a training camp.

Tibayan is one of the most sought after players from high school after gaining a slot in the Gilas cadets side in one of its tournaments - the youngest to do so.
