JOLLINA Go exploded with six triples and Pacific Water claimed its first win, upsetting erstwhile undefeated Glutagence, 71-61, on Saturday in the Pia Cayetano WNBL Season 2021 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Go finished with 27 points as the Queens finally scored a win after starting the season with four straight defeats. It was the Glow Boosters' first loss in four outings.
Go hit a triple in the second period to gain a 19-18 lead and the Queens never relinquished the lead. The former Ateneo cager hit back-to-back threes to bring Pacific Water’s lead to 46-35 in the third quarter.
Snow Penaranda had a near triple-double as she had 13 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists, while also adding seven steals for Pacific Water.
Cara Buendia had a double-double, contributing 13 points and 15 rebounds including a layup that gave Pacific Water an 18-point lead, 64-46, in the fourth, the biggest lead in the match.
Raiza Palmera-Dy was the lone double-digit scorer for Glutagence with 28 points as the Glow Boosters suffered a loss ahead of their marquee match-up against unbeaten Paranaque Lady Aces.
The Lady Aces are the only remaining unbeaten team in the league with a 2-0 record.
Paranaque and Glutagence clash on Sunday, 1:15 p.m. at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
