QUEZON City picked up its first win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup after beating General Santos, 77-72, on Thursday night at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Jojo Duncil had 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists for the Capitals, who finally won its first game after losing their first two games.
Jesse Collado had 11 points, while Peejay Barua added 10 points for Quezon City in the wire-to-wire win with the Capitals leading by as many as 17 points.
The Warriors were able to cut the deficit to four points but Duncil sealed the win with a driving lay-up with 20 seconds left in the game.
Chris Masaglang had 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Warriors but rued their 19 missed free throws in the game.
GenSan slipped to 1-2.
