JOHN Zamora had 16 points, while Dioncee Holts had 15 and 10 rebounds as Arellano defeated Sydney Amigos, 77-64, on Monday in the 1st Philippine-Australia Goodwill Basketball Invitational at the Philsports Arena.
Allen Enriquez added 16 markers while Zachary Nicholls finished with 11 for the Chiefs, who averted a last ditch stand by the Amigos midway in the fourth.
After leading 55-44 at the end of the third, the Chiefs of coach Jerry Codiñera saw their lead dwindle to only 62-59, before they capped the game with a finishing 15-5 run to clinch the win.
Arellano joined Ateneo and San Sebastian as opening day winners in the five-day invitational tournament.
