JOHN Orbeta and Mark Racho showed the way as General Santos City edged Basilan, 83-81, on Monday in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Orbeta hit a triple to put the Warriors on top, 82-79, with 54 seconds left.
Dennis Daa scored on a layup with 46 seconds to go, enabling the Steel to close the gap, but Racho was fouled in the next play and split his charities for the final tally.
Daa had a chance to tie the game but his jumper was off the mark.
Racho had 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. GenSan improved to 10-9 to gain fourth place in the Southern Division.
Meylan Landicho added 14 points while Delmar Mahaling had a double-double performance of 12 points and 10 boards.
Pasay scored a 76-72 win over Laguna in the other game.
