GENERAL Santos City defeated the Parañaque Patriots, 80-76, on Tuesday for their fifth straight win in the MPBL Datu Cup.
The Warriors improved their win-loss record to 12-9, just half a game behind third-running Batangas at 13-9 in the Southern Division.
Davao Occidental is on top with a 17-4 record followed by Muntinlupa at 12-8.
“We just want to maintain the energy level that we showed in our previous wins. Kapag bumaba yung level na yan, it’s going to be a big concern for us. We just have to stay consistent,” said GenSan coach Ramon Pido.
John Orbeta came away with a double-double performance of 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
Meylan Landicho added 16 markers, including the Warriors’ last three free throws that sealed the win.
Zamboanga defeated host team Pasay, 91-74, to get back on the winning track, moving to eighth spot in the southern division at 9-12.
Harold Arboleda had 23 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Zamboanga.
Ivan Vilanueva added 15, Reed Juntilla scored 14, Robin Roño chipped in 11 and Allan Santos had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
