CENTRO Escolar University is rebooting its program after Joe Silva was named as its new head coach.
Team manager Egay Macaraya bared to SPIN.ph the development after the Scorpions’ three-peat bid in the Universities and Colleges Athletic League (UCAL) came to a disappointing end.

Silva takes the reins from interim coach Bong Ramos, who will slide to an active consultant role in CEU.
“Coach Joe is a winner and we have the utmost trust that he can help CEU get back to the top,” Macaraya said.
Silva is no stranger to winning, famously handling Kai Sotto during his time with the Ateneo Blue Eaglets.
He would then spend a season coaching University of the East in the UAAP and as an assistant at Alaska and Converge in the PBA. He currently holds a post as a deputy of Jeffrey Cariaso at Blackwater and to Raiza Palmera-Dy in the FEU Lady Tamaraws program.
CEU finished the current UCAL season with an 8-5 win-loss record, but missed out on the Final Four due to inferior points differential, ending its three-peat quest.

It was an inauspicious start for the Scorpions this season, losing their first three games under Britt Reroma before Ramos was installed in an interim capacity.
Now, they’re hoping that this change could rejig CEU back into contention as it looks ahead to a rebuild in the offseason.
