JJAY Alejandro fired away 20 points, while Alfred Aroga had a double-double of 11 and 20 rebounds as National University defeated Olivarez College, 69-57, on Sunday at the FAITH Gym in Tanauan City to clinch one of the two berths for the Luzon-Metro Manila region of the National Collegiate Championship Elite Eight.
Alejandro and Aroga showed the way for the Bulldogs in the lopsided game to earn a place in the Elite Eight where they play in a stepladder format that includes UAAP and NCAA champions Far Eastern University and Letran.
Tzaddy Rangel added 14 for NU, which will play Cesafi champion University of San Carlos on Monday also at the FAITH Gym.
The winner of the NU-USC match will take on University of Santo Tomas, before meeting FEU in the stepladder competition.
The other bracket features Technological Institute of the Philippines against Visayas-Mindanao titlist University of Visayas in the first round of the stepladder phase before moving up against San Beda and Letran.
The championship game is set on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
