JC Intal looks forward to a reunion of sorts with former teammates after being named as a late addition to Mighty Sports' roster for the Dubai International Basketball Championship.

The high leaping forward relishes the opportunity of playing alongside old teammates Ryan Arana, Beau Belga and Willie Miller after getting the green light from PBA club Phoenix to join the one-off tournament.

Intal played with Arana and Belga in the powerhouse Harbour Center squad during their time in the defunct PBL and later teamed up with Miller at Barako Bull in the PBA.

Familiarity therefore should make the transition a whole lot easier for Intal despite joining the team just last Saturday.

"It's a mini reunion. Sila Ryan nakasama ko na yan sa Harbour Center, si Beau, si Willie Miller sa Barako. So parang mini-reunion talaga e," Intal said.

"So it's good. Nakikilala ko rin yung mga ibang players like Jett Manuel and Jeron Teng," he added.

After posting averages of 17 points and nearly five boards a game for Phoenix in the PBA Philippine Cup, Intal is expected to be one of the key cogs for the Charles Tiu-mentored squad.

With dominant imports like Hasheem Thabeet, Dominic McGuiree and Justin Brownlee, Intal believes he can make a huge impact from the perimeter for Mighty.

"Siguro makakatulong ako sa pagiging floor spacer at sa depensa, but of course I'm looking forward to contribute, kung ano yung nagagawa ko sa PBA gagawin ko for Mighty Sports," he continued.

The former Gilas Pilipinas forward is confident the powerhouse side can contend for the championship, that's why he's doing his best to quickly mesh with his new team.

"Ineexpect ko na magiging sobrang competitive, kita mo naman sa lineup, it's a mix of imports, PBA veterans and the upcoming PBA players," Intal continued.

"I still have three more days to practice with the team and mag-prepare cause we leave on the 16th."
