PAOLO Javelona and Jopher Custodio took charge in overtime to lift Bacolod past Muntinlupa, 98-86, on Wednesday in the MPBL Lakan Cup at the San Andres Sports Complex.
Javelona delivered 20 points, eight assists and five steals for Bacolod, while Custodio chalked up 18 markers. Javelona and Custodio tallied six and five points, respectively, in extra period to secure Bacolod's second win in four games.
"Sa huli, I really stayed with my veterans, si (Arben) Dionson lang yung iniwan kong bata pero nag deliver naman siya," Bacolod head coach Vic Ycasiano said.
Things got chippy at the 1:34 mark of overtime when Muntinlupa's John Ylagan and assistant coach Chris Cantonjos were both slapped with unsportsmanlike fouls that got them ejected.
Dionson buried the game-tying layup with 30.66 seconds left in the fourth quarter to force overtime, 80-80.
Muntinlupa’s Christian Garcia hit the shower early, slapped with disqualifying fouls at the 1:24 mark of the second quarter for punching Bacolod's Paolo Javelona. Mheljan Magtoto was also sent out for entering the court without permission.
