Thirdy Ravena, San-En NeoPhoenix stay hot after B.League break

THIRDY Ravena picked up right where he left off as the Japan B. League season resumed on Saturday after a weeks-long break, helping the San-En NeoPhoenix beat a Dwight Ramos-less Levanga Hokkaiddo, 87-73.

Ravena, who missed a couple of games prior to the break because of injury, returned to action and tallied 11 points and three rebounds to join four other San-En players in double digits in scoring.

Ravena, San-En improve to 13-2

Yante Maten led their efforts with 19 points and 11 boards in 25 minutes of play as the NeoPhoenix made it four straight wins and improved to 13-2 for the year.

Ramos wasn’t available for Hokkaido, which lost four games in a rowand fell to a 3-12 slate for the season. They were paced by De’Mon Brooks’ 21 points and five boards.

    Elsewhere, Matthew Wright and the Kyoto Hannaryz extended their win streak to three by besting the still winless Toyama Grouses, 87-82.

    The Grouses, who missed the services of Filipino AJ Edu during the game, skidded to 0-15.

    Though Wright struggled with his shooting, he chipped in in other areas of the game as he finished with four points, three rebounds, and six dimes.

    Yuta Okada tallied 21 points for the Hannaryz as they improved to 4-11.

    The Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, for their part, won their fifth straight game as they nipped the Ibaraki Robots, 89-79.

    Nagoya’s Ray Parks Jr. was quiet with two points, two rebounds, and five assists, as Scott Eatherton had a double-double of 18 points and 10 boards.

    The Diamond Dolphins are now 12-3.

    Kai, Heading still DNPs

    In the other games, Carl Tamayo was scoreless and finished with just one rebound and one assist in the Ryukyu Golden Kings’ lopsided 93-73 loss to the SeaHorses Mikawa.

    The Golden Kings saw their five-game win streak stopped as they fell to 11-4.

    Kai Sotto and Jordan Heading were DNPs in their teams’ respective losses.

    The Hiroshima Dragonflies fell to the Alvark Tokyo, 88-75, while the Nagasaki Velca fell to the Kawasaki Brave Thunders in overtime, 80-77.

    Hiroshima sports an 8-7 slate while Nagasaki are at 9-6.
