    Thirdy celebrates birthday weekend with San-En sweep of Kyoto

    THIRDY Ravena capped off his birthday weekend with a sweep as San-En NeoPhoenix scored a 73-65 win over Kyoto Hannaryz on Sunday at Kyoto City Gymnasium in the 2022-23 Japan B.League season.

    Though the Gilas Pilipinas guard only had two points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field, he had seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals off the bench a day after turning 26.

    Isaiah Hicks had 23 points, seven boards, and four assists as San-En with won back-to-back and rise to 10-11.

    Daniel Giddens had 18 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists, as Kosuke Kanamaru shot three treys and finished with 11 points.

    Matthew Wright, still nursing a sprained ankle, missed his second game for Kyoto as it dropped its sixth straight game to fall to 7-14.

    Other Pinoys, too, remained on the sidelines.

    Dwight Ramos, out with a sprained ankle, sat out Levanga Hokkaido's 97-92 win over Hiroshima Dragonflies at Hokkai Kitayell.


    It ended Hokkaido's four-game losing streak to move up to 6-15, while also halting Hiroshima's four-game win run and deal its fifth loss in 21 games.

    Justine Baltazar remained inactive.

    Nagoya Diamond Dolphins also missed Bobby Ray Parks for the third straight game due to concussion as they lost to Shimane Susanoo Magic, 73-70, at Matsue City Gymnasium.

    It split the weekend series as Nagoya slid to a 15-6 record.

    Kiefer Ravena also sat out his ninth straight game due to a leg injury as Shiga Lakes fell to their fourth consecutive loss after an 83-69 defeat to Shinshu Brave Warriors at Shiga Daihatsu Arena.

    Shiga stayed at the bottom of the standings with its 4-17 slate.
