OF all the Filipinos playing in the Japan B.League, only Bobby Ray Parks can boast of having playoff experience after the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins made it to the postseason last year.

But he's not satisfied with just making it to the big dance.

The Filipino gunner wants Nagoya to go deeper in the playoffs.

So far, the Diamond Dolphins are poised to do just that as they carry a 21-8 win-loss record in the ongoing 2022-23 season, tied for fifth in the league.

"To be honest, I'm super happy where we're at right now," said Parks. "I know we definitely could be better, but with all the obstacles that we had to face - concussions, people getting sick, stomach virus, our coach missing out on one game - I feel like we're weathering the storm and we're building character right now."

Parks was one of those who missed time due to concussion, sitting out three games in December.

"It was definitely tough," he said. "The first couple of days of dealing with a concussion is no joke and you start Googling and you go down this deep, dark hole of what it is. But the team did a great job of handling our protocols and making sure I was ready and fit to play."

"It was just tough cheering on my brothers from afar."

When he was finally cleared to play, Parks posted 10.31 points on 39-percent shooting from deep, to go with 3.12 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.15 steals in 23.2 minutes.

With the All-Star break allowing players to recuperate from injuries, the 29-year-old Parks is wishing that there won't be any more complications for him and Nagoya going into the second half of the season.

"We lost a couple of crucial games, but like I said, it's a long season and hopefully we can make up for it," he said, with the Diamond Dolphins still relying on him, imports Coty Clarke, Scott Eatherton, and Maurice Ndour, and locals Takumi Saito, Yutaro Suda, and Tenketsu Harimoto.

"I feel like the team still has a lot more to grow."
