AFTER being knocked out of playoff contention by Gunma the night before, Levanga Hokkaido bounced back with a vengeful 83-81 upset of the Crane Thunders on Sunday in the Japan B.League.
Both Dwight Ramos and AJ Edu had quiet nights as Hokkaido dealt Gunma a costly loss that enabled Chiba to catch the Crane Thunders and Alvark Tokyo for second place in the Eastern Conference on 40-18 (win-loss) records.
Jets move up
Chiba Jets, who posted an 88-74 victory over the Hiroshima Dragonflies, also hold the head-to-head advantage over Gunma after sweeping their season series.
The Jets can secure the playoff incentive if they sweep their remaining season series against Altiri Chiba.
Ramos finished with two points, three assists, and one rebound for Hokkaido, while Gunma's Edu ended up with four points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Meanwhile, Ray Parks Jr. and Kai Sotto delivered strong performances to power their respective teams to victory.
Parks steered Osaka Evessa to a 92-83 win over Kyoto Hannaryz, evening their weekend series behind a 28-point, one-rebound, and one-assist effort.
Sotto, for his part, tallied a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds to go with one assist, in an 89-79 win over the Kawasaki Brave Thunders, complete a weekend sweep for the Alphas.
Elsewhere, Kiefer Ravena and the Yokohama B-Corsairs also notched an 86-75 bounce-back win over the Sendai 89ers, with the veteran guard contributing 13 points, three assists, and one rebound.
On the other hand, Francis Lopez and the Nagoya Fighting Eagles fell 91-69 to Nagasaki Velca. Lopez finished with eight points, one rebound, and one assist.
