MATTHEW Wright and Ray Parks split their weekend series in the Japan B.League as the Kawasaki Brave Thunders and Osaka Evessa crossed paths at Kawasaki Todoroki Arena.
Wright’s Kawasaki took the 99-92 victory on Saturday with the Fil-Canadian gunner uncorking 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal while negating Parks’ 16-point showing.
Parks’ Osaka did get one back with an 85-78 win on Sunday, with him doing the yeoman job while corralling six points, eight boards, three assists, and one steal against Wright’s 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Osaka rose to a 23-21 record, while Kawasaki slipped to a 14-30 slate.
Same B.League Weekend Experience For Kiefer
Kiefer Ravena’s Yokohama B-Corsairs also had to settle for a split against Saga Ballooners in their weekend home stand at Yokohama International Pool.
Ravena registered five points, seven assists, and two rebounds in Yokohama’s 87-69 win on Saturday, but was held to just four points, five dimes, and three boards in the B-Corsairs’ 93-82 defeat on Sunday to go down to an 18-26 record.
It was pretty much the same for AJ Edu as Nagasaki Velca also suffered a win and a loss to Kyoto Hannaryz at Kataoka Arena Kyoto.
Edu did have six points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block in the Velca’s 88-68 loss on Saturday, but they did bounce back with an 84-63 win despite the Gilas Pilipinas big only chipping in two points, three boards, an assist, and a rejection as Nagasaki improved to 21-23.
Dwight Ramos, meanwhile, was the only winless Pinoy this weekend after Levanga Hokkaido dropped a pair of games against Nagoya Diamond Dolphins at Hokkai Kitayell.
Despite Ramos’ 14-point night, Hokkaido suffered a 76-68 loss on Saturday before he was held scoreless on Sunday in their 81-61 blowout loss to sink to a 16-28 card.
