MATTHEW Wright has signed with perennial Japan B.League contender Kawasaki Brave Thunders ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The Fil-Canadian gunner formalized his transfer after spending the past two years with Kyoto Hannaryz.
"It is an honor to be a part of a basketball club that has been around since 1950 and is one of the most prestigious in all of Japan. I chose Kawasaki because it is one of the most historic and winning programs in Japan and a very strong team and organization with much respect all over the league," he said in a statement.
Wright nabbed 13.1 points on 34-percent shooting from deep, alongside 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds for Kyoto as the Hannaryz ended up with a 17-43 record.
Chiu spreads his wings in Japan
Meanwhile, former Ateneo center Geo Chiu is also moving to Japan as he signed with second division club Ehime Orange Vikings.
The 6-foot-10 bruiser opted to forego his final playing year with the Blue Eagles to turn pro and recently played for the Taiwan Mustangs in The Asian Tournament.

A former Gilas Pilipinas member, Chiu is also set to play for Strong Group Athletics in the upcoming Jones Cup.
Last season, Ehime wound up dead last in the Western Conference of B2 with a 23-37 standing.
