MATTHEW Wright and AJ Edu get a chance to test the free agent market at the conclusion of their respective campaigns in the Japan B.League.
The two Pinoy imports have opted out of their contracts and are free to negotiate with teams interested in acquiring their services.
Solid season for Wright
Wright was solid in his two seasons with Kyoto Hannaryz, averaging 13.1 points on a 34-percent clip from distance, together with 2.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 53 games this past season to help his side finish with a 17-43 record.
Despite the team’s lackluster season, the Fil-Canadian gunner did have his moments, most notably when he put up 37 points built from eight three pointers – including the game-winner – in a rare victory against the Saga Ballooners late in the season.
Kyoto said that it is in talks with Wright to re-negotiate and retain his services.
Edu, on the other hand, had a pedestrian rookie year in the Land of the Rising Sun that was sidetracked by a torn meniscus in his first season with the Toyama Grouses.

But when he was healthy, the Fil-Cypriot big man was a difference maker after tallying 13.1 points, 8.9 boards, 1.4 assists, 1.0 steal, and 0.7 blocks in the 14 games he played.
Unfortunately, Toyama could only muster a 4-56 win-loss slate this year and will be relegated to the second division next season.
