KIEFER Ravena confirmed that he will remain in Japan for the continuation of his professional career, just not with Yokohama.
“I’m still staying in Japan, just transferring teams, continuing my growth as a player and as a man,” Ravena said, opting to keep the identity of his new team under wraps for now.
The move extends a Japanese adventure that began in 2021 when Ravena signed with the Shiga Lakestars, later renamed the Shiga Lakes.
He spent three seasons with the franchise before moving to the B-Corsairs in 2024, with whom he played the last two years.
Now, another stop awaits one of the pioneers of the Filipino basketball exodus to Japan.
For Ravena, however, the appeal of playing overseas goes beyond wins and losses.
“Not that I have more motivation to play basketball, to represent Jordan Brand, play for my family, and my own family in the future, pero sobrang rejuvenating,” he said.
Kiefer continues to carry the torch
Since exiting the PBA in 2021, Ravena has become one of the faces of the B.League’s growing Filipino presence, helping prove that local players can thrive on an international stage.
More than anything, he hopes the path he has taken inspires the next generation.
“Hopefully, the kids, the future of basketball can learn a thing or two with just loving the game. That’s the most important thing I have been doing for the past 28 years, to continue finding joy in playing basketball,” he said.
The destination remains unknown for now, but what Ravena did make clear is that his career abroad is far from over, with the 32-year-old guard choosing to continue his pursuit of growth in the country that has been his basketball home for the last five years.
