Kai Sotto sustains fine play as Yokohama revives playoff push

KAI Sotto continued his string of double-digit scoring, helping Yokohama B-Corsairs take down Nagasaki Velca, 102-69, on Sunday at Yokohama International Pool in the 2023-24 Japan B.League season.

The Gilas Pilipinas center dropped 13 points in the victory, his eighth straight game to hit double figures in scoring since being moved to the B-Corsairs starting five in the past nine games.

More importantly, it lifted Yokohama to a 21-24 record as they continue to make their playoff push through the wildcards.

Meanwhile, Thirdy Ravena didn't need to do much for San-En NeoPhoenix as they completed a weekend sweep of SunRockers Shibuya, 84-81, at Toyohashi City Gymnasium.

The three-time UAAP Finals MVP posted only seven points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal, but it was enough as San-En improved to 36-9.

    Dwight Ramos wasn't as fortunate as his 15 points, five dimes, and four boards weren't enough as Levanga Hokkaido fell to the Ibaraki Robots, 107-98, at Hokkai Kitayell. It sunk his side to a 13-32 slate.

    Ray Parks suffered the same fate as the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins tasted a close 84-83 defeat to Hiroshima Dragonflies at Hiroshima Sun Plaza. He tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the defeat as Nagoya fell to 28-17.

    Wright, Kyoto fall

    Matthew Wright had an off-night with only a point, a steal, a block, and four assists for Kyoto Hannaryz in their 70-53 setback to SeaHorses Mikawa at Wing Arena Kariya to further sink to a 13-32 record.

    RJ Abarrientos also found himself on the losing end as his Shinshu Brave Warriors fell to Osaka Evessa, 78-70, at White Ring Arena despite his 10 points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal. The team remained at the bottom of B1 at 6-39.

    Over in B2, Roosevelt Adams was vital in Yamagata Wyverns' 80-70 win over Aomori Wat's at Maeda Arena after knocking down 13 points, four assists, and two rebounds. Yamagata is close to evening its record at 25-26.

    Greg Slaughter also hardly needed to do much for Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka as his pair of points and boards were enough in their 97-60 victory over Niigata Albirex BB at City Hall Plaza Aore Nagaoka. Fukuoka improved to 34-17.
