KAI Sotto’s first head-to-head matchup in this Japan B.League season against fellow Gilas Pilipinas big AJ Edu was cut short by a sprained left ankle on Wednesday.
The 7-foot-3 big man limped off in the third quarter and did not return in the Koshigaya Alphas’ 80-67 win over Nagasaki Velca at Koshigaya City Gymnasium, which ended the home team’s six-game losing streak.

It was a bummer of an end for Sotto, who retreated to the bench at the 58.7 second mark of the third quarter after compiling 13 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, three assists, and two steals in 24 minutes of action.
Nevertheless, his teammates got the job done to improve the Alphas' record to 2-10.
Edu, for his part, only had six points, eight boards, a steal, and a block in 31 minutes of play as Nagasaki dropped to an even 6-6 card.
Dwight Ramos’ return also meant positive things for Levanga Hokkaido as they stretched their win run to three with a 97-88 rout of Sendai 89ers at Hokkai Kitayell.
Ramos produced 11 points, six rebounds, six assists, and one steal for Hokkaido which improved to a 5-7 slate.
Kiefer Ravena’s 13-point night went for naught in Yokohama B-Corsairs’ slim 80-77 defeat to Alvark Tokyo at Yokohama International Pool. He also had two assists, a rebound, and a steal, but Yokohama slid to 5-7 after a third straight loss.
Ray Parks and the Osaka Evessa’s struggles continued as they suffered their third consecutive loss - 93-91 heartbreaker away to to Hiroshima Dragonflies despite the Filipino import's 15 points, five boards, four assists.
They fell to 6-6.
Matthew Wright was held to just two rebounds and an assist in the Kawasaki Brave Thunders’ 112-89 blowout loss to San-En NeoPhoenix at Toyohashi City Gymnasium that dropped them to 3-9.
