OLYMPIAN Eumir Marcial is set for a homecoming fight next month against Thoedsak Sinam of Thailand at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The eight-round fight at middleweight set on March 23 will be the first for the 28-year-old Marcial in the country since the 2019 Southeast Asian Games when he won the gold medal.

It will also be his first pro fight in a year and his last before he sees action in the Paris Olympics this August.

Marcial, 4-0 (2 KOs), naturally is eyeing a strong showing in what should serve as an Olympic sendoff for him.

“I intend to put on a great show for those who will watch and see me live. I believe that I will be more than ready by the time I get to Paris in July,” said the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist.

The native of Lunzuran, Zamboanga City is still in the US and will be arriving in the country on March 11 to continue his camp in Tagaytay City courtesy of Mayor Bambol Tolentino.

“It’s going to be a great fight, a great treat for the Filipino fans as Eumir Marcial will be fighting before a hometown crowd,” said MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons.

Sinam, 28, sports a 23-13 record with 19 KOs.
