Dwight Ramos, Levanga Hokkaido settle for B.League weekend split

DWIGHT Ramos’ superb bounce-back game went for naught as Levanga Hokkaido fell to SunRockers Shibuya, 92-86, on Sunday at Hokkai Kitayell.

Despite putting up 25 points on 5-of-8 shooting from deep to go with three rebounds and one assist, the Gilas Pilipinas guard could not save Hokkaido from a weekend sweep at home as it fell to 13-22 in the Japan B.League season.

Ramos only had two assists in 15 minutes of play in the Levanga’s 67-64 escape on Saturday.

Matthew Wright’s Kawasaki Brave Thunders did succeed in scoring a two-game sweep of Shiga Lakes at Kawasaki Todoroki Arena.

His five points, two rebounds, and two assists helped the team post a 105-82 rout on Saturday before he stood out in the 98-95 thriller a day later with his 15 points, two assists, and one board.

Kawasaki improved to 12-23.

Kiefer Ravena also got a mixed bag for the weekend with the Yokohama B-Corsairs as they split their weekend duel against Chiba Jets at LaLa Arena Tokyo Bay.

The visitors pulled off a 67-66 shocker on Saturday as Ravena was held to four points, four rebounds, and two assists. The B-Corsairs took another 76-71 loss on Sunday with the Pinoy guard nabbing nine points and two assists.

AJ Edu dealt with the same fate as Nagasaki Velca spit its weekend series with the Shimane Susanoo Magic at Happiness Arena.

Nagasaki absorbed a 78-69 defeat on Saturday with Edu limited to just four points, eight rebounds, three assists, and one block, but atoned for it with a 96-74 in on Sunday that saw Edu contribute four points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals.

    Nagasaki is now at 15-20 in the standings.

    Ray Parks, however, wasn’t as fortunate as Osaka Evessa lost back-to-back games to San-En NeoPhoenix at Ookini Arena Maishima.

    The home team incurred a 91-83 defeat on Saturday even if Parks put up 18 points, seven assists, two rebounds, a steal, and a block, and got whipped anew with a 99-70 rout on Sunday despite his 12 points, three rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal.

    That sent the Evessa below .500 with their 17-18 record.
