FILIPINOS still run the show for Asia All-Stars, as they guided the way to the triumph in the Japan B.League Asia Cross Tournament on Friday at Happiness Arena in Nagasaki.
Dwight Ramos buried the game-winning triple to steer the Asian Players Quota selection to a thrilling 30-29 victory against B2 Select made up of standouts from the second division.
It capped off a memorable showing for Filipinos, keeping the Asia All-Stars on top in the prelude to the league's annual midseason festivities.
Kiefer Ravena earlier set the tone for the squad, catching fire early as Asia All-Stars took the 20-17 win over the Rising Stars.
It was sweet redemption for the Asian imports after losing in last year's event against Japan's top 24-under prospects.
Also part of the squad were Ray Parks and AJ Edu, together with captain Yang Jae-min and Lee Hyun-jung of Korea, Yu Ai-che of Chinese Taipei, and Sergio El Darwich and Omar Jamaleddine of Lebanon.
The B.League tweaked the format this season, pitting a four teams against each other which also had Kyushu United made up of players from the Kyushu Prefecture (Nagasaki, Saga, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Ryukyu).
