BEHIND her relentless grind in the WTA's Asian swing, Alex Eala is seeing progress in the numbers.
The 20-year-old Filipina just achieved a new career-high ranking of No. 54, climbing four spots from her previous position of No. 58 after a series of solid performances in China.
Just last month, Eala also captured her maiden WTA title at the 125 Guadalajara tournament in Mexico.

This surpasses her career best of No. 56, set earlier this year.
Eala first broke into the WTA Top 100 after her Cinderella run at the 2025 Miami Open in march, where she stunned top names including Iga Swiatek, Jelena Ostapenko, and Madison Keys.
The 20-year old recently wrapped up a three-tournament stretch in Asia — Jingshan and Suzhou, where she reached the quarterfinals in both, and a qualifier appearance in Wuhan.

Up next for the young star is the WTA 250 Kinoshita Group Japan Open in Osaka, running from October 13 to 19, where she joins a field that includes Emiliana Arango and Hailey Baptiste, among others.
