GUNMA Crane Thunders sent a strong opening statement in the playoffs by blowing out the Chiba Jets, 87–68, in Game 1 of their best-of-three Japan B.League quarterfinal series on Saturday.
AJ Edu had a quiet outing with four points, three rebounds, and two assists, but he still made his presence felt on the floor as he outperformed returning big man Quentin Millora-Brown, who went scoreless in just nearly four minutes of action.
The game was tightly contested early before Gunma shifted gears in the second quarter, unleashing a decisive 28–14 run to seize a commanding 50–35 halftime lead.
From there, the Crane Thunders kept firm control, dictating the pace and steadily pulling away to secure a comfortable victory.
Gunma now stands one win away from the semifinals, while Chiba looks to regroup and force a do-or-die Game 3 when both teams meet again tomorrow.
