JAMIKE Jarin expressed concern as National University continues to struggle months before the UAAP.
The Bulldogs are winless in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup and while Jarin said there is time to adjust, he wants to see results this early.
NU suffered a huge loss to University of the Philippines, their third loss in as many matches, and Jarin couldn't hide his disappointed as his voice can be heard from the Bulldogs locker room to the nearby press center after the game.
“Of course, it’s still early but it has to start now. We have glimpses of playing well, we have glimpses of not playing well. We are very consistent in being very inconsistent,” Jarin said.
“Hopefully, we will just be better. It’s a very young team. That’s the only thing that you can’t fast track. UP, they’ve been together for four, five years. We will get there,” the NU coach said.
The Bulldogs are struggling despite a line-up that includes some of the top high school players in previous seasons in John Lloyd Clemente, John Galinato and Dave Ildefonso.
NU previously lost to reigning NCAA champion San Beda and University of the East.
Against the Fighting Maroons, Clemente and Galinato led the way for NU with 11 points each.
“We started out good. UP was able to make a run. Halftime, they were up by three but in fact, we were leading pa. All of a sudden, there is this stretch in the third quarter na we played like we didn’t know each other,” said Jarin.
“We were outscored, 24-11, and that was the game right there. They just cruised. That’s a sign of a very young team,” Jarin said.
