JASON Perkins came through with a double-double effort in De La Salle’s 91-63 rout of Emilio Aguinaldo College Friday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
Perkins finished with 20 points including two three-pointers, and 11 rebounds as the Green Archers remained unbeaten in five outings.
It was the first game of the Taft-based team without the injured Yutien Andrada.
But the Archers obviously responded well without Andrada, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury in his right knee, as Jeron Teng had 11 points, while Norbert Torres also had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
“I think our team is very close to each other and I think they feel for Yutien,” said De La Salle coach Gee Abanilla. “Somehow, they want to dedicate their coming games to Yutien. We know that he worked hard to be physically ready.”
The Green Archers never let up after posting a 26-14 lead over the Generals at the end of the first quarter.
Despite the 28-point blowout, Abanilla said it wasn’t a perfect game for the Archers.
“I think there were stretches that we looked good but there were stretches that we have to work on our game. But the most (important) part of our game is that we are learning to pass, we had player movement that paved the way for open shots,” said the La Salle coach.
Noube Happi had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Generals, who remained winless in five outings.
