Joseph Marquez and Mark Montuano shot 15 and 14 points as the Icons stopped the Arellano University Chiefs, 77-62, at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda College-Mendiola campus for their third win in four games in Group B.
The Chiefs are still ahead in their bracket despite suffering their first loss in five outings.
The Icons earlier beat the Trinity University of Asia Stallions, 87-59.
Technological Institute of the Philippines, led by Kim Medina with 18 points, banked on their outside shooting to fend off the La Salle Green Archers, 76-68.
The Engineers leaned on triples from Joshua Saret and TH Tumalip in shattering a 59-all deadlock en route to victory. TIP evened its record in Group A 3-3.
Jason Perkins scored 27 points for the Green Archers, who slipped to 2-3.
In the juniors division, Far Eastern University-FERN got 28 points from Jason Aquino as they downed St. Joseph-Bulacan, 68-62, to improve to 3-1 in Group B.
San Benildo (4-1) drew 20 points from Jason Cervantes as it upset Letran, 82-77, in overtime. Adamson won via walkover against University of Santo Tomas.
