INCHEON, South Korea -- India and Kazakhstan opened its Group B campaign with rousing victories on Saturday at the start of the qualifying round of the men’s basketball competitions in the 17th Asian Games here.
India beat Palestine, 89-49, while Kazakhstan defeated Saudi Arabia, 89-59, during the opener at the Hwaseong Sports Complex and gain headway in their bid to advance into the preliminaries.
The top-seed team in Group B will be the first opponent of Gilas Pilipinas in the opener of Group E slated on Tuesday followed by the game against Fiba-Asia champion Iran.
Gilas Pilipinas assistant coaches Tab Baldwin, Jong Uichico, and Josh Reyes were in the gallery to scout their possible opponent when the team makes its debut in the quadrennial meet.
The entire Gilas Pilipinas team is scheduled to arrive here on Saturday.
