AGUA Caliente Clippers put the G League Ignite's playoff bid in peril after dealing a 116-111 stunner on Wednesday at AdventHealth Arena in Orlando (Thursday, Manila time).
Jalen Green kept the select team within two, 110-108, with a three in the final 54.6 seconds, but Amir Coffey stretched the lead back to four, 112-108 with a pair of freebies with 44.3 ticks left.
Green rushed a three in the ensuing possession, leading to Malik First icing the game with four free throws in the end game to snap Agua Caliente's six-game losing skid.
The defeat dropped Ignite to eighth place at 7-6, the select team now needing to sweep its last two assignments to advance to the postseason.
Brandon Ashley paced the select team with a game-high 26 points on 12-of-15 shooting clip, together with nine rebounds, three steals, and two assists as they suffered back-to-back losses.
Green, who is of Filipino descent, had a better outing this time out with his 20 points, six boards, five assists, and two steals, as NBA veteran Amir Johnson corralled 16 points and five rebounds.
Making the defeat harder for Ignite was losing Congolese guard Jonathan Kuminga to an apparent leg injury early in the fourth period after he tallied seven points and five rebounds in the game.
Ignite will be hoping that the injury isn't that serious as it turns its attention to Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday.
Jordan Ford led Agua Caliente with 22 points, five assists, and four steals, as Coffey went for 21 points built on five treys as the also-ran Clippers improved to 4-9.
