    Holy Trinity GenSan whips West Negros University

    CEBU CITY — The Holy Trinity College of General Santos trampled over West Negros University 101-77 in the stepladder phase of the 2012 Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Monday at the Cebu Coliseum.

    The Wildcats, champions of the Mindanao qualifiers last month in Iligan City, got off to fast start as Christopher Masaglang scored 12 points in the first quarter for a 23-15 lead and never looked back.

    Masaglang finished with 20 points, Meylan Landicho added 18 points, while McDenver Polistico had 15.

    The Mustangs got 14 points each from burly forward Rasmor Catalino and athletic wingman Jeramer Cabanag.

    HTC blew the game wide open in the third canto as Landicho scored 10 straight points in a 19-7 run that pushed the Wildcats’ lead to 22, 72-50.

    The Wildcats then displayed great ball movement and scored the first 11 points in the payoff period to erect their biggest lead of the match at 28, 83-55.

    HTC await the winner of the match between the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. runner-up University of the Visayas and third placer University of San Jose-Recoletos.
