    TEAM Chris Tiu defeated Team Marc Pingris, 135-110, on Saturday to win this year’s Master Game Face All-Star Basketball Challenge on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

    Chris Ellis of Barangay Ginebra scored 31 points for Team Chris, which even the score in the all-star showpiece after losing in the first edition last year.

    Ellis’ teammate Greg Slaughter, playing for Team Marc, won the MVP of the game award after scoring 27 points while going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in a rare show of outside shooting prowess.

    Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Kevin Love was also in attendance to watch the best players from the PBA, UAAP, and NCAA play free-wheeling basketball.

    Team Chris opened a 32-17 lead at the end of the first quarter and were largely in control in the match, which had so little defense from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

    Ellis scored the final two points of the game with a slam dunk off a bounce-off-the-backboard pass from Sol Mercado to put the exclamation point to the win.

    Team Marc (110) – Slaughter 27, Intal 20, Garcia 17, Paras 13, J. Cruz 9, Dilinger 9, Sumang 7, Artadi 6, David 2, Amer 0, Racal 0, Nimes 0.
