FORMER Ginebra import Jackson Vroman died on Monday in an accident where he drowned in the pool in his Los Angeles home.
The 34-year old forward was initially reported to have died in a car accident, but succeeding news dispatches said Vroman was found dead in his own pool after tripping, hitting his head and falling in.
The naturalized Lebanese-American played for several teams that included Barangay Ginebra in 2012. He was drafted out of Iowa State by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 2004 NBA Draft but saw action with the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Hornets.
After his stint in the NBA, the 6-foot-10 Vroman embarked on a globetrotting hoops career as an import where he saw action for teams in China, South Korea, Spain and the Philippines. He was also a member of the Lebanon’s national team from 2009-10.
His father Brett, played for the Utah Jazz in the NBA. Vroman was also known to be friends with celebrities like football star Reggie Bush and singer Justine Bieber.
