Gilas Women suffer third loss as Chinese Taipei 1 pulls off OT win

GILAS Pilipinas Women absorbed its third loss, bowing to Chinese Taipei 1 in overtime, 99-91, in the Jones Cup women's tournament on Friday in Taiwan.

The Filipina cagers were still up, 67-63, entering the fourth but Chinese Taipei overpowered thenm, 17-9, in overtime.

Janine Pontejos scored 17 points on 5 of 10 from threes, and Kelli Hayes had 14 points for the Philippines, winless in three games.

Fan-Shan Huang had 23 points, while Szu-Ching Pang had nine of her 21 points in the extra period as Chinese Taipei 1 recorded its first win.

The Philippines takes on Korea, which has 1-2 card entering the match.
