GILAS Pilipinas Women's 3x3 is through to the knockout stages of the 2019 Fiba 3x3 Asia Cup after placing second in Pool C Friday at Changsha, China.
The girls of coach Patrick Aquino mustered a 1-1 win-loss card in pool play.
They first suffered a tough 20-8 defeat to Japan before bouncing back with a strong 21-6 domination of Sri Lanka behind Afril Bernardino and Clare Castro.
Jack Animam and Janine Pontejos also had valuable contributions in the two games.
The Philippines progressed to the next round thanks to Japan's 22-11 win over Sri Lanka.
However, the Filipinas will have a tall task ahead of them as they take on Australia in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 12:10 p.m.
