GILAS Pilipinas center Andray Blatche towers as the guest of honor when the 1st SBP 3x3 Pambansang Tatluhan 2016 kicks off Thursday at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
Thirty-two teams, divided equally in boys and girls divisions, will represent the country’s 16 regions where a total of 584 teams battled for slots to the Under 16 open national championship, the centerpiece event of SBP’s grassroots development program under its president Manny V. Pangilinan.
“This should be a big thing for the kids, especially those who will have their first experience of traveling via airplane and setting foot in Manila,” said SBP executive director Sonny Barrios. “Plus they will be able to play and have time to enjoy at the largest mall in Asia.”
The opening ceremony will be ushered in by an invocation at 11 a.m. followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The oath of sportsmanship will then be recited and the welcome remarks will be delivered by the SBP executive director.
After a dance number and an inspirational message from a TNT representative, the new TNT logo will be unveiled and will be the cue for Blatche’s intro.
The competition will be held under FIBA Game Commissioner Hector Villanueva, SBP 3x3 technical head, and Bernie Atienza, SBP 3x3 tournament director
