GERMY Mahinay of Negros has been slapped with an indefinite suspension and a P100,000 fine for a flagrant foul he committed against Joey Barcuma of Zamboanga during their MPBL game last Monday in Binan City.
The MPBL announced the sanctions on Wednesday.
A video of the play that is now viral on top social media platforms showed Mahinay undercutting Barcuma with his right knee while trying to block the latter's lay-up attempt at the 8:37-mark of the fourth quarter.

Barcuma crashed hard to the floor and Mahinay was immediately sanctioned with a flagrant foul 2.
The MPBL said Mahinay's reaction after the incident was also considered in the sanction.

"This outcome takes into account the dangerous nature of the play as well as Mahinay's reaction immediately after the deplorable act," said the MPBL.
The result of the game was already settled when the incident happened with Zamboanga eventually beating Negros, 88-73, for its fourth straight victory in as many games.
Negros faltered to its first loss in four games.
Barcuma finished the match with eight points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Mahinay had eight points but only played for eight minutes in the contest before being tossed in the contest.
