THE General Santos City Warriors turned back Navotas Clutch, 80-73, on Saturday to boost their MPBL playoff chances in the Datu Cup at the Lagao Gymnasium.

Leomar Losentes knocked in 11 of his 19 points in the fourth period while Delmar Mahinay poured in all of his 14 markers in the first half as the Warriors moved into a tie for sixth with the Parañaque Patriots at 8-9.

Navotas saw its two-game winning streak snapped and suffered its first loss under new head coach Gabby Severino. The Clutch now carry a 7-10 card and share sixth spot with Valenzuela and Mandaluyong.

Celebrity baller Gerald Anderson played his first MPBL game in General Santos City, coming up with nine points and six rebounds as Marikina Shoemasters defeated the Mandaluyong El Tigre, 76-62.

Anderson and the Shoemasters posted their first back-to-back victories, improving to 6-10 to climbing into a tie for 10th spot in the southern division with Zamboanga.
