GERALD Anderson proved that he belonged as he put on a respectable outing during the MPBL All-Star Game.
Anderson had nine points and five steals on early Sunday morning as he contributed in the South All-Star’s 109-84 win over the North All-Stars. The Kapamilya actor even buried back-to-back buzzer-beating threes to end the second and third quarters as the South team rolled to the lopsided win.
“Siyempre malaking privilege sa akin,” said the 29-year-old Anderson, who plays for the Marikina Shoemasters.
Anderson’s stint in the MPBL came a day after he suited up for Marikina in the Chooks Pilipinas 3x3 tournament. But the actor, who was already a competitive basketball player even before his current stint in the MPBL, said the back-to-back days didn’t bother him at all.
South All-Stars coach Donald Dulay was impressed with the play of Anderson particularly on the defensive end.
“Surprisingly, Gerald had two buzzer-beaters but I don’t think anyone noticed that he had five steals. He was everywhere,” said Dulay.
Anderson said his team was determined to win the game and give the fans an entertaining but competitive match.
On his two buzzer-beaters, Anderson said: “Gusto ng team namin na manalo talaga. Nagkataon dalawang buzzer-beater.”
