MINDANAO teams scored huge road wins in the MPBL Datu Cup on Tuesday.

The General Santos City Warriors overcame a sloppy first half to turn back the Bulacan Kuyas-Mighty Sports, 56-43, at the JRU Gym in Mandaluyong.

Basilan also came up with a huge upset, scoring a 70-68 squeaker over Mandaluyong, which lost a game playing in front of its hometown crowd for the first time in the tournament.

Held to a league record low 12 points in the first half, the Warriors found their range in the second half while limiting the Kuyas to only 20 points.

It was the third straight win for Gen San, improving to 4-4 to forge a four-way tie for fourth spot with Zamboanga, Bacoor and Laguna in the Southern Division.

Delmar Mahaling finished with 15 points while Marlon Basco chipped in 11 for the Warriors.

The Kuyas absorbed their third loss in nine games as they posted the lowest total output in the league.

It was the fourth win in nine games for the Basilan Steel, while the El Tigre absorbed their second loss in eight matches.
