    THE Senate Advocates turned to a former NCAA standout in leading them to an 81-72 win over the DILG Visionaries to stay unbeaten in the Makabansa Basketball League last Saturday at the Meralco gym.

    Former St. Benilde wingman Garri Sevilla registered 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, two assists, two steals, and one board without a turnover to tow the defending champion Advocates to their second straight win to claim the solo lead in Group C ahead of NLEX (2-1) and Office of the President Kamao (1-0).

    Rommel Balboa added 10 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, and one steal, while Senators Joel Villanueva (six points, four boards, four assists, and two steals) and Sonny Angara (four points, four assists, and one steal) also contributed for the Advocates as they kept the Visionaries winless in two games.

    The House of Representatives Rulemakers likewise notched their second straight win with to grab a piece of the top spot in Group A with a 75-72 win over Justice League in the recreational tournament for government and private executives and employees.

    Chicoy Alvarez showed the way with 19 points, 14 boards, six steals, and two blocks for the Rulemakers, who share the top spot with the Meralco Lineman after the latter scored a 78-65 win over the Ombudsman Tanodbayan Watchdogs.

    Former UE banger Mark Famplume continued to anchor the Linemen’s attack, pumping in 19 points, 11 caroms, one assist, one block, and one steal, while Roger Nacpil and Jeffrey Ronquillo added 12 points apiece.

    League executive director Jang Moreno chipped in eight points after making all but one of his five shots, on top of three rebounds and three assists for the Linemen.

    In Group B, PLDT Digital maintained their view atop the standings with a second straight win via an 82-75 decision of the DENR Environmental Warriors.
