Gamboa, Adornado lift Ateneo-B over PH Youth

KEVIN Gamboa and Joma Adornado led the way as the Ateneo-B Blue Eagles downed the national youth team, 65-48, at Trinity University of Asia gym on Monday for their second straight win in the 19th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament.

Gamboa got the Blue Eagles off to a hot start with two triples in the first period that allowed the Loyola dribblers to grab 18-6 advantage.

Adornado, son of PBA great William 'Bogs' Adornado, scored 17 points for the Blue Eagles, hitting two of his four treys in the second canto as they stayed ahead, 31-20, at halftime.

Adornado hit two more three-pointers in the third canto as Ateneo-B took a 17-point lead, 65-48, at the end of the third.

The Blue Eagles are ahead of the Adamson Falcons and the University of the Philippines Group B. The Maroons got 11 points from Julius Wong as they put away PATTS College of Aeronautics, 73-39.

In Group A, Cameroonian reinforcement Ahmed Salihon scored 18 points as Fatima University turned back Jose Rizal University, 62-58, to even their record at 1-1.

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. had 19 points as National University clobbered Letran, 91-49.

In the juniors division, Ivan Villanueva scored 15 points as the Letran Squires whipped University of Santo Tomas, 92-51.
